Do's

Do notify creditors of any problems or changes immediately.

Do give priority to debts which may result in you losing your home, fuel supply or liberty.

Do respond to Court Summons immediately and seek advice from Citizens Advice Bureau ASAP

Do respond to letters promptly and keep copies on those sent and received

Do ensure repayments are realistic and affordable.

Do make regular payments - however small.

Do ensure all figures are given either monthly or weekly not a mixture of both.

Do seek professional  advice if necessary.
Don’ts

Don’t assume debts will go away if ignored or no response from your creditors for some time.

Don’t be pressurised into making any decisions - if things upset you take time to think and calm down.

Don’t make offers you can’t afford.

Don’t borrow more money to pay off your debts without taking  advice as this can make matters worse.

Don’t give up trying to reach an agreement with your creditors even if they are difficult.

Don’t lose hope, even if it takes a long time, you can still get through.
